She had been in a hurry, not paying attention, and he had skidded to a stop to avoid hitting her. He had parked the bike and followed her into the antique shop, waiting until she was through with her purchase before approaching to scold her about jaywalking and putting herself and others in danger.
From the first moment their eyes met, Kayla was taken with him, and she could tell he was attracted to her, as well. The scolding led to talking, which led to a date, which led to a torrid night of no-holds-barred lovemaking, which led to Harm—as he told her to call him—ultimately becoming her first “husband” through their nonlegal but personally binding commitment ceremony.
She was soon to learn that Harm was a tattoo artist extraordinaire as well as a shrewd businessman. He had opened his first extremely lucrative tattoo parlor—he called it a “salon” because it was the “in” thing—in Los Angeles when he was just out of college, and aided by his charm and talented work the shop had ballooned into a chain of salons frequented by not only the obvious customers but the very rich and famous by the time he was thirty-two.
Harm shared how this had given him now at age thirty-four the financial freedom to travel at his leisure. And through computer technology, he was able to keep in touch with his managing partner, who co-ran the empire he had built, leaving Harm to enjoy the open road as he toured the country, pursuing a long-held passion.
Only Harm could have talked Kayla into getting a small golden key tattoo that pointed downward just below her naval, teasingly calling it her most vulnerable kissing spot. As he had kissed his way down her body that night she got tattooed, he had stated the key would symbolically open the door to her lush valley of sex. Then he had laughingly declared that, no matter how many others might be brought into their “fold,” he wanted her to promise that he would always be the keeper of the key.
Harm proved to be a passionate and inventive lover who delighted in gently binding Kayla’s wrists and then kissing every inch of her body to bring her to a fever pitch of desire. He had perfected the art of teasing nips to her more sensitive areas before his educated tongue inevitably lapped the clitoris before sucking it in a rhythm that drove Kayla nearly out of her mind. He always brought her to her first mind-numbing climax on their nights together that way. Then he would gently caress her until she started her climb to a sensual peak. Only then did he thrust into her to the hilt and begin a rocking motion that prolonged the climatic ecstasy in a way he knew she craved.
Harm had never been married. He never believed he wanted to be until he met Kayla. Now, as he took her upstairs to her suite for their night together, he couldn’t imagine not being with her. And, truth be known, now that he knew the other guys and had come to be real friends with them, settling into a comfortable, acceptable routine, he could not imagine his life without all of them being in it, either.
CHAPTER 3
Lee
Kayla was getting ready to usher in her second patient the next day when she got a phone call from Lee.
“Kayla, I wanted you to be the first to know—the Food Network picked up my cooking show, with options for two more seasons.”
Lee’s voice betrayed the exhilaration shooting through him.
“Lee! How wonderful! When? How?” Kayla replied.
“My agent finally earned his exorbitant fees. He’s been working on this for six months. We thought it was dead in the water, then we thought it was a brilliant idea to do a ‘where are they now?’ piece on me and my wrestling career, and it generated so many hits on YouTube that the Food Network producers got interested.”
“Looks like you’ve landed a second celebrity career,” Kayla said as her secretary buzzed her with the reminder that her next appointment was there.
“Look, Lee, we’ll do something special tonight to celebrate.”
Lee chuckled. “Any night I’m with you is special, Kayla, but tonight—well, I’ll think of something … extra-special.”
Kayla’s body tingled at the thought of what Lee could do when he put his mind to being creative. The memory of one evening they spent exploring the various places chocolate mousse could be licked from had her taking deep breaths.
“Yeah, baby. Tonight,” she breathed.
* * *
Thirty-nine-year-old Richard Lee Harris, Kayla’s second “husband”, had been a highly sought-after, world-famous wrestler whose name had been linked to some of the most famous celebrities during his wrestling career. He had made thousands of personal appearances, endorsed products from Fortune 500 companies, and amassed quite a fortune by the time he was thirty.
Lee had been hounded by paparazzi during his early years, and even though he had tried his best to shun the press, his striking good looks, his lustrously thick, dark-brown hair, which he wore slightly longer than most, his midnight-brown eyes that always seemed to be twinkling as though he had just heard a naughty joke, his 6’4” well-built body, and the charismatic personality that tied all that together had kept him in the limelight. Thus, he was always fodder for gossip, often fabricated to enhance provocative headlines.
Then, when he was thirty-five, he ended up in the hospital as a result of a serious injury he sustained when an overzealous opponent, determined to make a name for himself, threw Lee into the spectator chairs. Getting back on his feet after two months in the hospital—when he thought for a time that he might be paralyzed—had changed Lee forever.
His wrestling career was over. Before the accident, he had been just drifting through life, spending his money, partying, taking life and his good fortune for granted, not giving any thought to the future.
Afterward, knowing how easily life could be snuffed out, knowing that every day should count in a meaningful way, Lee had decided to pursue his secret dream of becoming a chef. He had just returned from the most prestigious cordon bleu school in France, degree in hand, his mind set on starting his own gourmet restaurant when he first met Kayla.
Kayla had backed into his Rolls Royce Phantom in the parking garage of the shopping center, and Lee had gotten out to check the damage. He was pleasantly surprised to find that the occupant of the offending vehicle was the most beautiful woman he had seen in a long time.
After exchanging insurance information, discussing the fact that there was no real damage to either vehicle other than a scrape on her bumper, they started talking, both obviously unwilling to let the other disappear.
They continued the conversation at a nearby restaurant, where Lee found himself discussing his future plans for his own cordon bleu restaurant chain and listening as Kayla talked about her psychiatric practice. But underlying the conversation was the almost overwhelming physical attraction between them.
Lee found Kayla to be an engaging, intelligent, and fascinating individual. He had never been so drawn to any other woman before, and when the conversation progressed from sexual innuendoes to actual touching beneath the table, Lee was hooked.
Later, in the seclusion of his hotel suite, after they had shared their first prolonged kiss that left them both breathing heavily, Kayla undressed slowly, provocatively, the promise in her eyes branding him with fiery anticipation as their gazes locked. In moments, Lee had slipped a condom on his rock-hard shaft and mounted her. Their coming together had been hot and hard.
After an explosive climax, they lay discussing their philosophies. Lee was enthralled and completely smitten when he discovered how compatible they were. It was then that Kayla broached the subject of her chosen lifestyle and once he had gotten over being stunned, Lee admitted he found the concept intriguing to say the least.
To her question of, “Would you consider joining us? Could you accept that there would be others?” He had answered, after a moment of quiet contemplation, “Yes. I could.”
And life for Lee had never been the same since, nor would he have it be. He had his ever-growing successful restaurant chain up and running, he had the woman of his dreams on special nights made all the more spectacular by the spiciness of their adopted
life choice, and he had the best friends of his life in his fellow partners. Life was definitely good.
Many nights Lee relaxed on his bed, those alternate nights he was not in bed with Kayla, and thought about just how perfect everything was for him—far better than he could have imagined when he thought of his old, empty life.
Becoming Kayla Saradon’s second “husband” one month after meeting her, Lee had decided, was the best thing he had ever done.
* * *
After her brief conversation with Lee, Kayla found the day to be another exasperatingly long one. As she ushered her last appointment out, she released a pent-up sigh of sheer relief.
The more she listened to her patients’ problems—some extremely deep-seated, but most insipidly vain, born out of frustrated loneliness and misconceptions of what life does or does not expect from one—the more Kayla realized how lucky she was. And how utterly content.
Sometimes she had to bite her tongue to keep from sharing that knowledge with those of her patients who were seeking fulfillment with no earthly idea about where to find it. Lately, in her utter contentment, she found herself wanting to confide her liberated, polyandry secret. She wanted to shout it to the world, publish it in graphic detail, and see it displayed from every newsstand.
But of course she couldn’t—wouldn’t.
Instead, she automatically voiced platitudes to her patients. She nodded politely as she listened and encouraged them to “open their horizons” without offering a way to do that.
In other words, Kayla admitted as she prepared to leave the office, I’m a colossal hypocrite!
As she settled behind the wheel of her Lexus and maneuvered it from the parking garage, Kayla refused to dwell on that thought. Instead she concentrated on her forthcoming night with Lee and what surprises he might have in store for their night together.
Wonderfully uncomplicated Lee, she mused.
It brought a smile to her face as she thought about how Lee had the strength to bench press her if he so desired, but instead was the most gentle of her men, with the most soothing, soft hands and infinitely tender, sensual lips.
One of Lee’s greatest attributes, and one she so appreciated, was that he was definitely a man comfortable within his own skin. Not only did he admit to his love of cooking, but also to what would ordinarily be considered “girly flicks” filled with problem romances that eventually evolved into a tearful, everlasting commitment of the lovers.
In other words, Lee is my hulking, muscle-clad, intimidating-in-appearance, hopeless romantic, and I can’t wait to be with him tonight.
Thinking of that, Kayla’s smile broadened as she drew near to her home.
Lee was exactly what she needed tonight. Remembering how good he was at what he considered his “specialty” made her suddenly wet and eager. She was so looking forward to it as she pulled the car into the garage.
As always, she was met by her four men when she stepped inside. After kissing them all, she led the way into the living room and plopped down on the couch with a weary sigh.
They all could see she was mentally drained. In silent agreement, they decided to relieve her tension: Luke massaged the kinks out of her neck, Lee rubbed her feet, Harm brought her a glass of wine, and J.J. took her hand and sucked her fingers gently. He sat beside her to ask, “What can I do to erase the memories of the day, amor?”
“You’re doing it. All of you,” she said, flashing them all a tired smile as she took a long swallow of the wine. “I don’t know what I’d do without you—any of you.”
J.J. leaned to kiss her, before suggesting, “Why don’t we all relax in the Jacuzzi? Maybe that will wash away the lousy day.”
“Great idea,” Harm echoed.
“Dinner can wait,” Lee said. “It’s just leftover pot roast, anyway. Unless you’re hungry enough to eat right now.”
Kayla shook her head. “No, I’m not. The Jacuzzi sounds great.”
“Tell you what. Let us do everything tonight,” Luke suggested. “Undress you, position you in the Jacuzzi, give you a fresh glass of wine, then stand ready to offer whatever pleasure you desire to erase the day.”
“Sounds wonderful,” Kayla said laughing. “I’m all yours, guys.”
Luke disappeared through the patio doors to start the Jacuzzi while she allowed her other three men to undress her and then lead her to the inviting, bubbling, warm water.
Kayla’s mind was reeling with the delicious feeling that she had the greatest life one woman could imagine as she settled in the Jacuzzi and watched her handsome partners disrobe, then join her in compatible silence.
As always, Kayla marveled at how comfortable they all were with her and each other, the way a perfect marriage should be, but seldom was. In fact, as far as she knew from her patients and past experience with her parents, hers was the only such marriage in existence.
Knowing it was Lee’s night, the others positioned themselves slightly apart, deferring to him the coveted place next to her. She leaned her head on his broad shoulder before tilting her head up to receive his passionate kiss.
“Sorry that damned job takes such a toll on you, hon,” he said tenderly as he pulled away.
“Some days are harder to get through than others. Lately I seem to resent them all, however. I’m thinking I must need a vacation.”
“So why don’t you take one? We could all arrange to go away somewhere. Some exotic island maybe. Or you could just stay home and relax while we all take turns pleasuring you.”
Kayla looked at him smiling, thinking, sweet Lee always makes things sound so simple and easy. Yet they never are.
She had a full schedule for the next two months, appointments booked back to back. She didn’t say that because she never discussed business with them. She never wanted to, preferring to keep her men separate and secluded within the private confines of their home and also within her mind, her one safe haven where the intrusive outside world was prohibited to enter.
“That sounds heavenly, but I’m afraid right now it’s out of the question.”
“You work too hard, Kayla,” Harm said. “You don’t have to, you know?”
The others nodded their agreement.
“I know. Guess it’s ingrained in my DNA. Besides, as long as I have all of you to come home to, I can manage a few aggravating days at the office. Hell during the day, but heaven at night makes for one lucky broad.”
“We’re the lucky ones. And you damned sure will always have us,” J.J. said with a grin.
They left the Jacuzzi after an hour, dried each other off, and donned robes before eating a late dinner.
Afterward, Kayla and Lee disappeared to her apartment. As soon as the door shut behind them, Lee picked her up and cradled her against his broad chest as though she were an injured child in need of comfort.
“If you’re too tired to have sex tonight, hon, just tell me. I’ll just hold you, or rub your back or whatever you need me to do.”
“I will never be too tired for you, Lee. I can’t tell you how much I’ve looked forward to being with you tonight.”
He set her back on her feet and removed both their robes without speaking again. In his unassuming way, he slid his hands over her body, leaving a tingling awareness in their wake as he kissed her gently. He cupped her breasts and leaned to suckle each with infinite tenderness.
As he raised his head, Kayla wrapped her arms around his strong neck and hugged him close. She always felt so secure and pampered with Lee. And she knew what he preferred sexually. Tonight she wanted that, as well.
Kissing him passionately, she said, “Why don’t we start with my pleasuring you?”
Having said that, she knelt before him and began teasing the soft, satiny tip of his cock with her seeking tongue, licking up and down the shaft as her hands moved between his legs to gently massage his balls, soliciting his excited moans.
“Now it’s your turn, my beautiful wife,” he said as he pulled her to her feet and guided her to the be
d. He sat down beside her, gently urging her to her stomach.
“First of all, I intend to give you the best massage you’ve ever had, my love. Then I’m going to start kissing the back of your neck and slowly work my way down, kissing every inch of you, then turn you over and let my tongue explore every crevice of your gorgeous body. I promise you when this night is over, you’ll be limp with satisfaction. You’re so perfect and I love you so much, Kayla,” Lee murmured as he warmed the fragrant oil in his large hands and began to massage her. He heard her sigh with released tension and smiled.
“That’s it, baby. Let me take you to the nirvana of relaxation. This night is all about you.”
After he had fulfilled that portion of his promise, he gently turned her and explored her with his educated tongue until she was writhing beneath him in anticipation. Only then did he maneuver them into his favorite 69 position. Slipping one arm beneath her, he held her hips firmly, burying his face into the springy thatch of golden hair between her thighs. She moaned her acceptance of his actions as his tongue delved hungrily into the moist valley of her sex.
He gave his probing tongue full thrusting power, plunging into her wet center before exiting to flick at her hardened clit. As his lips closed around her clit, he began to gently suck.
On the precipice of orgasm, after teasing his velvet-tipped shaft with her tongue, Kayla took his cock fully into her mouth and sucked it just as passionately as Lee was sucking her clit. She felt him jerk with climatic release and savored his salty essence as she shook with her own orgasmic release.
Both breathing hard, they lay satiated and limp with pleasurable exhaustion.
Lee moved around until he was facing her. His big arms encircled her as he declared, “You are the perfect wife, Kayla. I consider myself as blessed as a man can be.”
“I feel the same way about you, Lee. We’re good together.”
